For Young Aspiring Artists

“His opportunities of contemplation and meditation served to enrich him with that wisdom and piety that made him beloved of God and angels.

As he contemplated the perfections of his Creator, clearer conceptions of God, opened before his soul.

Obscure themes were illuminated, difficulties were made plain, perplexities were harmonized, and each ray of new light called forth fresh bursts of rapture, and sweeter anthems of devotion, to the glory of God and the Redeemer.

The love that moved him, the sorrows that beset him, the triumphs that attended him, were all themes for his active thought; and as he beheld the love of God in all the providences of his life, his heart throbbed with more fervent adoration and gratitude, his voice rang out in a richer melody, his harp was swept with more exultant joy; and the shepherd boy proceeded from strength to strength, from knowledge to knowledge; for the Spirit of the Lord was upon him.”

Great music comes from Deep Contemplation and Meditation.

Creativity and Inspiration rise from Active Thought!

Illumination only comes through time well-spent with God!

Inspiration, Motivation and Obedience

The best form of motivation is inspiration.

And inspiration always comes through the channel of obedience.

We’re not called to prove faithful to our feelings but our calling.

If we’re obedient to our calling as His disciples, we receive inspiration.

The inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

And through His inspiration, we’re motivated by His Love to Love others.

And as we obey by loving & serving others, we’re inspired by what His Love has done.

So, in the end, we realize that it’s not about us.

It was never about us.

Instead, it was about Him being faithful to us, in us and through us.

When we obey, not only are we inspired but motivated to obey more.

Obedience begets more Obedience.

This was the principle God has set in motion from the beginning of time.

If we grasp the meaning of the “principle of obedience” we’d obey a whole lot more.

Not Knowing What You Want

Read today that if the character in the movie doesn’t know what he/she wants, then the movie drags.

The same is true for our lives.

No person in their right mind pays to watch a person hang or chill through life.

If you’re not experiencing any kind of conflict in life, you are clueless as to what you want in life.

Conflict is the essence of a great story.  A great movie.

Often a great movie that inspires has a character that faces a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, a conflict.

Then the movie tells an amazing & yet inspirational story of how that specific character overcomes the odds, obstacles and reigns triumphant over the conflict.

This moves people.

Moves them to tears.

Stirs their soul for greatness.

Awakens an insatiable thirst for dream, passion & purpose.

You were born with a purpose.

You were created to overcome all odds & obstacles.

You are called to be an inspiration for those only you can touch & awaken.

Amusement VS Inspiration

Amusement creates thirst, while Inspiration quenches thirst.

Amusement or “Arouse-ment” is temporary while Inspiration is eternal.

We’re most inspired when Divinity flashes through Humanity.

We’re most amused/entertained when Humanity eclipses Divinity.

  • While it is human to lie, it is divine to tell the truth.
  • While it is human to take revenge, it is divine to forgive.
  • While it is human to be greedy, it is divine to be generous.
  • While it is human to give in, it is divine to resist.
  • While it is human to engage in orgy, it is divine to remain pure.
  • While it is human to complain, it is divine to create.
  • While it is human to waste time, it is divine to utilize time.
  • While it is human to get fatter, it is divine to get fitter.
  • While it is human to divorce, it is divine to thrive in marriage.
  • While it is human to give up, it is divine to keep trying.
  • While it is human to be a coward, it is divine to be courageous.

We’re the only creatures living in front of a screen.

Vainly trying to seek inspiration through amusement.

Ever seeking to quench that never ending thirst for inspiration through entertainment.

But we fall short.

Every time.

Because amusement never satisfies.

Because God has set “eternity” in our hearts.

We were made for inspiration not entertainment.
